Supporting the first mentally healthy Games

Supporting the first mentally healthy Games

We are supporting Glasgow 2026 to be the first mentally healthy Commonwealth Games.

As an Official Supporter of the Games, our team are delivering mental health training for Glasgow 2026 staff and volunteers.

We are also the Official Mental Health Supporter for Team Scotland and are supporting athletes and their teams throughout the build-up and duration of the competition.

Once the Games are underway, the Wee Nook, our pop up mental health hub, will be on hand in athlete hotels and Team Scotland House. The Wee Nook gives athletes and families from all 74 participating nations and territories a safe and friendly place to chat about their mental health and wellbeing.

“Athletes aren’t the only ones to come under pressure at major events like this, so it’s great to have support available for everyone involved in delivering a successful Games.” - Hope Gordon, Team Scotland Para Powerlifter

Scotland’s Mental Health Charter for Physical Activity and Sport

Glasgow 2026 has become the first major sporting event to sign Scotland’s Mental Health Charter for Physical Activity and Sport. The Charter, which is delivered by SAMH, provides a framework for sport clubs, events and organisations to build good mental health into their work.

Since 2018, hundreds of organisations, from grassroots clubs to elite sporting bodies, are using their collective power to create mentally healthy environments to support everyone involved in physical activity and sport.
