What is The Nook?

The Nook offers free, drop-in mental health and wellbeing support seven days a week - without the need for an appointment or referral.

A safe, stigma-free space where anyone can visit to speak about mental health, The Nook will provide visitors with access to support for themselves, or people they care about.

Our first Nook is already open in Glasgow’s Merchant City, and we are currently recruiting skilled and compassionate colleagues for our team in Aberdeen.

When will The Nook in Aberdeen open?

The Nook will open in the ground floor of Marischal Square in mid-2026. We will update you via this webpage and our social media channels with all the information as we have it, including the exact open date nearer the time.

What can I expect?

Once open, our team will welcome visitors in for a chat at our Kitchen Table. We will provide support to young people (10+), families and adults experiencing mental health problems impacting day-to-day living, as well as to people supporting others, whether that’s friends, family or work colleagues.

The Nook will offer:

  • information and resources
  • talking therapy
  • events and opportunities for social connection
  • self-help sessions
  • therapeutic wellbeing activities.

How can I support The Nook in Aberdeen?

The Nook currently receives no public funding and is supported by SAMH’s first ever major fundraising appeal. We can only achieve our ambitions with support from the public. Please consider donating if you can and help us support more people across the North East.
