Cycle alongside elite cyclists in our unique fundraiser
8th May 2026
Four-time Olympic medallist Jack Carlin is leading a team of cycling champions in a new endurance challenge to raise vital funds for Scotland’s mental health. This is your chance to cycle alongside them too!
Paisley-born Jack is promoting – and taking part in – Cycle the Circuit: a 24-hour cycling event at Scotland’s iconic Knockhill Racing Circuit in aid of SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health).
But he won’t be taking on this daring challenge alone. Jack has gathered his friends and fellow elite cyclists to join him: Lewis Stewart (Commonwealth champion and Paralympian), Kyle Gordon (Commonwealth athlete) and Mark Stewart (Commonwealth champion and Olympian).
Anyone can sign up to take part in this unique challenge, cycling alongside the elite team as a solo rider, a duo or a team of four, starting at sunset on Thursday 2 July and finishing at sunset on Friday 3 July.
This is a rare chance to experience the adrenaline of Knockhill under floodlights and the roar of support teams while making an incredible impact.
All proceeds raised will support SAMH and its life-saving services across Scotland, ensuring more people can ask once and get help fast with their mental health and wellbeing. SAMH also has the support of its Ambassador, Sir Chris Hoy, the second most decorated Olympic cyclist of all time.
Riders will be invited to take part in a training evening at Knockhill ahead of the event, giving them time to get to know the circuit and meet fellow riders.
Registration also includes hot food and snacks for 24 hours, a camping slot at the circuit, thermal silver warming blankets, a timing chip, a SAMH t-shirt and a finisher’s medal. Full support will be provided throughout the event.
Sign ups are open now to individual and corporate fundraisers.
Every mile cycled will help SAMH deliver vital mental health support when people need it most.
Jack Carlin, who won two silver and two bronze Olympic medals racing for Team GB, said: “This is such a unique opportunity for cycling enthusiasts, or for anyone seeking a challenge where they can train hard in the coming months then really feel that benefit in July when it all comes together. The setting, the atmosphere, the cause and the nature of the event make this one of a kind.
“I can’t wait to take part and cycle through the night and day alongside others united to support mental health services across Scotland.”
Commonwealth gold and silver medallist Lewis Stewart, from Dundee, added: “Since I was a kid watching motorbike races with my dad at Knockhill, I’ve always wanted to get out on that circuit – I just didn’t quite envisage it being a 24-hour cycling challenge! It’s going to be an incredible experience, riding through the night alongside a brilliant group of people all united behind such an important cause.
"Mental health affects so many of us, and events like this make a real difference to the support available across Scotland. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just looking for your next challenge, I’d love to see you there!”
Hazel McIlwraith, Director of Fundraising and Major Appeal at SAMH, said: “This is not a challenge for the faint-hearted! But by taking part, you will be raising truly vital funds that will help us continue to deliver suicide prevention training, community-based services and walk-in mental health support through The Nook.
"This event directly fuels the work that changes - and saves - lives. We’re so happy to have Jack, Kyle, Mark and Lewis on board. Do you have what it takes to cycle alongside them? We can’t wait to see you at Knockhill!"
