Last year Nicole, a beauty pageant finalist and committed mental health advocate took part in the Virtual Kiltwalk in support of SAMH…

“When taking part in pageants my chosen platform is Mental Health awareness, because this is something that has affected myself, my family and friends for as long as I can remember.

“I'm always trying to come up with fundraising ideas for SAMH and while the pandemic has prevented me from doing some things in person, I was delighted to be able to take part in the Virtual Kiltwalk, to raise fund for SAMH in a safe way.

“With the Virtual Kiltwalk, there was no set distance you had to reach, so you can completely take it at your own pace, after all  it’s all about taking part. I set myself my own goal of walking at least 10,000 steps, to give me the push to keep going towards a goal. I managed to surpass my target and hit almost 8K!

“I kept all of my sponsors updated through Snapchat, which was a great way for people to come along with me on the journey, and make sure I was putting the effort in too!

“Knowing that by taking part I was helping to raise funds for SAMH, who offer vital support to many, was an amazing feeling. It helped me to keep going even when my legs started to feel like jelly. I can't wait to do it all again!”
