One of
Edinburgh's most beautiful hidden treasures will open its gates to
the public for a winter wonderland event on Sunday 4
December.
The
SAMH Redhall Walled Garden, on the banks of the Water of
Leith in Colinton Dell, was originally the kitchen garden
for Redhall House. Now a mental
health charity service, the organic garden will be offering a "Spot
the Snowman" trail for children, as well as the chance to make your
own snow globe.
Visitors can enjoy a cream tea while listening to live
music and can choose from a selection of plants and handmade holly
wreaths on sale. The SAMH Redhall Walled Garden open days have
become a popular event in the local community, attracting hundreds
of visitors each year.
Jan
Cameron, Team Leader at Redhall, said
"We're
very lucky to have such a wonderful site here at Redhall, and we
want to share it with everyone in our community."
A
visitor to last year's Easter Open Day said
"I
can't imagine anything more healing than fresh air, green space,
exercise and making things grow: wonderful!"
