SAMH is The Scottish Association for Mental Health

The Oxford Street team, winners of the Get Active trophy

On Thursday 16 June, 35 amateur football teams from across Scotland took part in a special, one day tournament. As part of our Get Active programme, we're working with Street Soccer Scotland to run the SAMH Street Soccer Cup.

The Cup is a national 5-a-side football tournament, with teams from around the country taking part to promote exercise and sport as a way of improving mental health.

The sun shone and all involved had an excellent day. The SAMH Get Active Trophy was awarded to the Oxford Street Salvation Army team, pictured above, while the SAMH Street Soccer Trophy went to Kilmarnock Pez, pictured below, with SAMH's own Connect service, which provides housing support, a close second.

But that's not all: the SAMH Trophy went to the West End Ward team, shown below.

And last but not least Jamie McLean won a well deserved Best Player award with SAMH's Cassiltoun service, which provides supported accommodation for people with mental health problems, taking the Fair Play award.
