In 2009/10, sickness absence due to mental health problems cost
Scotland's employers £690 million. That's almost £2 million per
day. The Dismissed? campaign helps employers to support the mental
health of their workforce and cut this cost.
At any one time, nearly 1 in 6 employees is affected by a mental
health problem such as depression or anxiety. The Dismissed?
campaign aims to improve the experience of people with mental
health problems in the workplace.
When you support the Dismissed? campaign, SAMH will help you
improve the mental health of your employees by:
- Providing free guides to the simple changes you can make in
your workplace
- Providing training for your staff in mental health
awareness
- Working with you to develop tailored workplace mental health
policies
- Working with you to promote the campaign and your
organisation's support
Below are details of the employers, large and small, who have
already given their support to the Dismissed? campaign. We hope you
will join them.

Joining our campaign can help you manage your
workforce
Some mental health problems are very common, like depression and
anxiety. In fact, nearly one in six employees will have a mental
health problem of some sort in any one year. If you haven't already
had an employee who develops a mental health problem, you almost
certainly will at some point.
Take advantage of SAMH's expertise and learn how to manage these
situations positively.
Joining our campaign can help your public
profile
We will list all of the organisations that sign up to support
the "Dismissed?" campaign on our website, which is visited by
9,000 people every month. We can work with your
company to develop opportunities to highlight your support of the
campaign, and throughout the eighteen-month lifespan of the
campaign, there will be numerous public events and activities that
you can be part of.
Joining our campaign won't cost you a penny
All we want is your support, and in return we'll help you in any
way we can.
